Memory

Clawbolt has a persistent memory system that stores facts about your business across conversations. It remembers your rates, client details, job preferences, and anything else you tell it.

How it works

Memory is stored as freeform text in a per-user MEMORY.md file managed by the agent. The agent reads and writes this file using workspace tools (read_file, write_file, edit_file). When conversations get long, automatic compaction summarizes key facts back into MEMORY.md and appends a timestamped summary to HISTORY.md.

Saving facts

Clawbolt automatically picks up on facts from your messages. You can also be explicit:

You: Remember that my hourly rate for electrical work is $95

Clawbolt: Got it! I've saved that your hourly rate for electrical
          work is $95.

Recalling facts

Clawbolt’s memory is always available in context. You can ask directly:

You: What's Mrs. Johnson's address?

Clawbolt: Mrs. Johnson's address is 42 Oak Street, Austin, TX 78701.

Forgetting facts

You can ask Clawbolt to forget outdated information:

You: Forget my old rate for plumbing, it's $90 now

Clawbolt: Done! I've updated your plumbing rate to $90/hour.
